How Can We Help IDPs Settle into Host Communities?

For nearly one decade, armed banditry has forced hundreds of thousands of Nigerians to flee their homes to IDP camps, where they often suffer food insecurity and malnutrition. Food donations and cash handouts have not helped IDPs to meet their daily food needs. Activists and groups now think including livelihood programmes into IDP management could be one of the most effective ways to help IDPs become self-reliant and contribute to their host communities' economic life.
